Primary 7 Visit Mixing Chemicals

Classroom or Laboratory? When you come to science you will be working in a laboratory. This is where scientists conduct experiments and write reports. You must be extremely careful when you work in a lab as there are a lot of dangers about!

Observation An observation is a change that you witness when conducting an experiment. It might be that something gets hotter, produces bubbles or changes colour.

Mixing Chemicals To be a good scientist you need to be very observant and must work methodically. We are going to mix a set of chemicals and watch for observations.

What to Collect Safety goggles A test tube A test tube rack A worksheet to fill in A set of chemicals to share.

What to do Instructions 1.Select 2 chemicals from the tray and write their letters on your worksheet. 2.Place three drops of each chemical into your test tube. 3.Note any observations that you see onto your sheet. 4.Clean your test tube and repeat with 2 other chemicals
