ENERGY SURVEYING Please Click through this presentation

Energy Surveying The Energy Survey gathers information from the site concerning energy inputs, throughputs and outputs (i.e. rejection to the external environment). The information gathered is used to construct the energy audit.

Energy Surveying The energy inputs are obtained by an analysis of fuel and electricity bills for a representative recent annual period. The energy outputs detail the ultimate energy rejection to the external environment, mainly via heat transmission through the building fabric and ventilating air.

Energy Surveying Analyses of the energy throughputs may require microaudits, or energy balances over individual items of plant and equipment, such as furnaces, boilers, refrigeration systems, steam autoclaves, compressors, etc. to ascertain operating efficiencies and to identify where sundry gains occur.

Energy Surveying The systematic approach taken in the survey and leading to the energy audit contains the following sequential steps:

Energy Surveying 1Submit preliminary questionnaire 2Process responses from questionnaire 3Obtain fuel and electricity bills for a recent representative annual period 4Analyse fuel and electricity bills 5Conduct boiler house survey and efficiency measurements 6Investigate energy distribution systems 7Perform internal site survey

Energy Surveying 8Construct INPUT side of the audit 9Obtain local climatic data 10Perform external site survey 11Quantify sundry gains 12Construct the OUTPUT side of the audit 13Analyses of THROUGHPUTS 14Make Ready to Construct the Energy Audit

Energy Surveying Questions to Ask at The Site Visit cover Energy Management Procedures Financial Practices Comments on Energy Consumption Monitoring and Recording Practices Personnel Energy Awareness Current Energy Conservation Measures Comments on Energy Inefficiencies Conditions of Buildings, Plant and Equipment

Energy Surveying Questions to Ask at The Site Visit cover Furnaces Boilers Boilerhouse Auxiliaries Heat Distribution Systems Energy Storage Systems Process Plant

Energy Surveying Questions to Ask at The Site Visit cover Space Heating Services Lighting Systems Power and Electrical Services Mechanical Ventilation Air Conditioning Systems Domestic Hot Water Systems Compressed Air Services

Energy Surveying Questions to Ask at The Site Visit cover Refrigeration Plant Chilled Water Distribution Systems Steam Plant Other Services Other Plant Special Equipment and Processes

Energy Surveying The Secondary Request Plan drawings of the buildings Elevations of the buildings Details of the structural components of the buildings Specifications of the boilers and associated plant Plans of the layout of process equipment and piping Details of air handling units and other space heating arrangements Details and layout of the inlet and extract ventilation fan sets

Energy Surveying The Internal Site Survey During the internal site survey, the energy manager should start at the boiler house and track energy flows to the final point of use and rejection to the external environment. An energy flow chart or a Sankey diagram should be constructed during the quest. An Energy Management Checklist has been constructed for guidance.

Energy Surveying The Energy Management Checklist covers: FUELS - COAL, OIL and GAS ELECTRICITY ENERGY RELEASE -FURNACES ENERGY CONVERSION - BOILERS, AUTOCLAVES and LIQUID HEATERS HEAT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS HEATING SYSTEMS

Energy Surveying The Energy Management Checklist covers: ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS PLANT AND EQUIPMENT LIGHTING THERMAL INSULATION VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS

Energy Surveying The Energy Management Checklist covers: DOMESTIC HOT WATER SYSTEMS COMPRESSED AIR SERVICES REFRIGERATION PLANT and CHILLED WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS STEAM PLANT WASTE HEAT AND MATERIALS RECLAMATION CONTROLS
