Broad Objectives of TS-SUR Portray current patterns of resource use Review the efficiency of policy measures and develop a mix of policy instruments Set goals and targets for increasing efficiency of resource and material use Decouple resource use and economic growth, and not to exceed carrying capacity

Some comments on TS-SUR TS in phase 1 – “towards TS” stage scheduled to be completed in mid Very cross-sectoral, close cooperation between DG Env, other DG’s, Eurostat Two studies to being carried out - inventory of national policies on resources, and a pilot study with analysis of two resource streams (eg. timber and non-ferrous metals)
