Title your paper “Classroom Rules vs Procedures”. Put your first and last name in the upper right-hand corner of the paper. 2分2分

二 PUTTING ON Do you know how to put on a shirt? In the first box, write a step-by-step guide to putting on a shirt. You can have as many steps as you want. BE SPECIFIC! I need two volunteers.

三 Classroom Rules vs Procedures

What are rules? What are procedures? RULESPROCEDURES Rules are a command that may not be ignored. Violation of rules is punished. In 2-203, we use soccer terminology to if you break a rule.

A yellow card is your first and only warning for the day. If I say you have a yellow card, stop what you are doing and read over the class rules. Figure out what rule you are breaking and adjust your behavior. EXPLANATION OF TERMS If I say that you have a second yellow card in the same day, you will (at a minimum) need to stay after class to discuss what you’ve done. The maximum penalty for two yellow cards is being sent out of the room with an administrator.

EXPLANATION OF TERMS You can also be given just a red card. This is for gross defiance of the rules. In this class, I won’t give anyone a red card without a warning. If something happens that would deserve a red card, I will call an administrator into the class. Two yellow cards equals a red card. If you are given a red card, (in soccer) you are sent off the pitch and will be suspended.

What are rules? What are procedures? RULESPROCEDURES Rules are a command that may not be ignored. Violation of rules is punished. In 2-203, we use soccer terminology to if you break a rule. Procedures are step-by- step instructions to achieve a desired result. You cannot break a procedure. It is not like a rule. If you cannot follow the procedure, you do not achieve the desired result.

There are only a few rules in this class. Please copy them down in your own words into box four on your paper. 1.Have all necessary materials ready when class begins. 2.Remain quiet and seated unless given permission to do otherwise. 3.Show respect for the people, equipment, and furnishings in this room. 4.Accept responsibility for your actions. 5.Follow proper classroom procedures. There are many procedures in this class. A common step in most procedures is C3B4UCme. Please brainstorm with your assigned group about what the procedures might be for the goals on the next slide.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES In your group, try to come up with three or four steps for each procedure listed. Once you’ve agreed on a procedure, write it down on the back of the paper. Sharpening your pencil Visiting the restroom Asking a question during lecture Asking a question about the assignment

四 Compound Vocabulary

Today’s words: contract, fathers, founding, natural, rights, social Fold a new sheet of paper like a hot dog. Fold the paper like a hot dog again. Unfold it. Draw a line across the paper starting under the first hole. This is called “paper columns”. Title your paper “Compound Vocabulary” and put your first and last name in the upper right-hand corner of the paper. 四 Compound Vocabulary

Today’s words: contract, fathers, founding, natural, rights, social 1. Over the line in the first column, write ‘words’. 2. In the second column, write ‘definition’. 3. In the third column, write ‘examples’. 4. In the fourth column, write ‘compounds’. 四 Compound Vocabulary

Today’s words: contract, fathers, founding, natural, rights, social Copy all of today’s words into the ‘words’ column. Leave a few spaces between them. 1. For each word, write mini-definition. If you need help, ask someone nearby. 2. In the next column, write two examples of that word from your world. (For fathers, I might write Homer Simpson as my example) 3. Lastly, combine your word with three other words to make compounds that make sense. 四 Compound Vocabulary
