It started with Cannan… This was the area that is now Isreal Look at the progression…

Phonecians North of Canan in Lebanon and Syria was a region called Phoenicia The Phoenicians invented the alphabet Through trade, the Phoenicians spread their alphabet This is the alphabet we use today!

Issue Arising The Canaanites and Phonecians were Pagan (worshipping more than 1 God) After 2,000B.C, a people known as the Israelites moved into the region and worshipped only one God The religion came to be known as Judaism Israelites rejected the gods of the Canaanites

Now the story really starts… Abrahams Covenant Famine (went to Egypt) Slavery =-( Freed by Moses =-) Took control of Canaan (promised land) and established the first kingdom of Israel

Uh-Oh… Babylonians destroyed the temple in Jerusalem and took people of Judah captive This was the beginning of the Jewish diaspora (scattering) Persians then conquered the babylonians/allowing them to rebuild their temple

Not again… This time the Romans took control of Judea, heavily taxed, and outlawed parts of the jewish religion. The Romans killed thousands of jews and destroyed their temple in 70 A.D
