The Five Areas of Interaction Throughout the semester, each subject will focus on these areas of interaction. They can also be thought of as “the big ideas” that set the IB Program apart from the typical curriculum. Throughout the semester, each subject will focus on these areas of interaction. They can also be thought of as “the big ideas” that set the IB Program apart from the typical curriculum. 1.Approaches to Learning- The students “learn how to learn.” 2. Community and Service- The students see their role in the community of the world. 3. Human Ingenuity- The students study the consequences of invention. 4. Environments- The students analyze their responsibility to the world’s resources. 5. Health and Social Education- The students investigate the meaning of physical, social, and emotional health.

The MYP allows students to use the subjects and areas of interaction as a whole system of learning.

The IB Learner Profile

Assessment Teachers assess student performance by using rubrics provided by the IB Programme. This means students around the world are measured against pre-specified criteria for each subject group. Teachers assess student performance by using rubrics provided by the IB Programme. This means students around the world are measured against pre-specified criteria for each subject group.

So how will the IB Middle Years Programme change your child’s classes? 1. There will be more of an emphasis on assessments, which can include written tests, projects, and papers. 2. Instead of students thinking of subjects in isolation, they will have to use knowledge from various classes for certain assignments. 3. Students will better see the link between what they are learning and what is going on in their community, country, and the world. 4. Students will have a more rigorous course of study. This will prepare them for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Diploma courses. This will also prepare them for all educational possibilities after high school.
