Curriculum Reading Intensive – Constant reading throughout the year: Novels: – Of Mice and Men, Great Expectations, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, In Cold Blood, Romeo and Juliet, Ethan Frome, Fahrenheit 451, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, and The Odyssey. Plays: – Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare – A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry Multiple – short stories – poems – nonfiction readings Reading outside of class IS VITAL!!!

Curriculum Writing Intensive – TWELVE or more papers a year (six per semester): Focus on nonfiction pieces – Literary analysis writing – Persuasive writing – Technical writing Two fiction contests a year – Young Author’s Fair – Academy Short Fiction Contest
