What is a unit, and how can I earn one? 23 Units REQUIRED for graduation Units are earned in 0.5 unit increments per semester. To EARN 0.5 unit your child must: – Achieve a grade of 70 or higher – NOT miss more than 6 days in each semester

Promotion/Retention Policy PROMOTION TO THE: 10 th grade 5 units (1 English; 1 Math; 1 Science) 11 th grade 10 units (2 English; 2 Math; 1 Science) 12 th grade 16 units (3 English; 3 Math; 2 Science, 1 Social Studies)

HOPE SCHOLARSHIP Must graduate with a “B” average (3.0 GPA) in ALL CORE ACADEMIC classes & retain that same GPA in college to remain eligible for the scholarship. A = 4; B = 3; C = 2; D (70)= 1; F = 0 GSFC determines eligibility and calculates official GPA. * The award will cover 90 percent of tuition * Resident of Georgia. Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at an eligible public or private college/university or technical college in GA. Check your child’s HOPE GPA on gacollege411.org

HOPE SCHOLARSHIP Cont. The Zell Miller Scholarship’s addition is among the changes to the HOPE. It will cover complete tuition costs for students who graduate high school with at least a 3.7 GPA & have a combined 1200 SAT score on the math and reading sections or score at least a 26 on the ACT. In order for recipients to retain the scholarship, they must maintain a 3.3 GPA in college. Students who lose HOPE or the Zell Miller Scholarship will have one chance to regain their scholarship. *Please visit GAcollege411.org for additional information*
