STATES’ RIGHTS NORTH SOUTH Less support for states’ rights Opposed nullification and argued that states did NOT have the power to decide whether or not they would enforce a U.S. law Supported states’ rights For Nullification: South argued states should not have to follow a U.S. law if it was not in the best interest of their state-they could declare the law NULL and VOID
