WHAT IS MANUAL HANDLING? Definition: Using your body to exert force in order to: “ ” Handle Support or Restrain

A repetitive or prolonged application of force, movement or an awkward posture.

Exposure to sustained vibration.

Handling live people or animals.

Handling unstable or unbalanced loads.

MSD ’S = M USCULO S KELETAL D ISORDERS Muscular sprains and strains. Back injuries. RSIs (Repetitive Strain Injuries). Abdominal hernias. Soft tissue injuries (wrists, arms, shoulders, neck or legs). Chronic pain.
