The key concept that we are looking at is SOCIALISATION Participation in sport and physical activity is influenced by socialisation due to socio-cultural factors (Figure 39.1, page 429). However, certain factors have a more powerful influence than others and are known as PRIMARY AGENTS How these primary agents guide or mould one is often due to or brought on by STEREOTYPES This stereotypical influence on sport and physical activity has resulted in the construction of HEGEMONIC MASCULINITY
