Membership is Dead? By Belinda Moore

The landscape of membership is about to change … Dramatically.

Baby Boomers are retiring

5.3 million shoes to fill and only 4.4 million feet

Skilled staff and volunteer leaders shortages are coming

Built by Boomers, for Boomers

Creating strong member communities is critical for success

Ad hoc volunteering is a critical segue between uninvolved and involved members

Often the most important value in joining is intangible.

Effective segmentation is critical.

Events are evolving

How you communicate is as important as the message

Social media is too popular and powerful to be ignored

New technology creates significant opportunities

Many Baby Boomers are resistant to making the required changes
