Everything’s Coming up Roses! What makes a plant, a plant?

What are the parts of a plant? Roots Stem Leaves Flower Pistil Stamen Seeds/Fruit

What do plants need to grow? Light Water Air Soil/Nutrients

Describe the lifecycle of a plant  A seed is planted.  It gets water, air, and light and begins to grow.  First, the roots grow down and the stem grows up.  Next, leaves and buds grow.  The new flower makes new seeds so a new plant can grow again.

What things can keep plants from growing? Touch Light Gravity Environmental Stress

Pop Quiz!  Name 3 plant parts and explain what they do.  List 3 things plants need to grow.  Draw a picture of a plant’s lifecycle.  Explain why some insects can harm plants.

Challenge!  Using the Internet or a textbook, research a solution for the aphid problem. 2. Find a flower at home or at school and identify all of its parts. OR take parts from several different flowers and create your own flower!
