Functions Return leaked fluids to blood vessels. Fight off disease. Help absorb fats.2

Structures Lymph Nodes- Absorb harmful materials and dead tissues. Lymphatic Vessels- Carries leaked fluids to blood vessels. Lymphocytes- White blood cells which fight off disease.

Relationships to other systems Returns lymph to the circulatory system to nourish the body. Provides protection from disease to all parts of the body. Red=blood cells Yellow= Platelets Green= T-Lymphocyte

Diseases Hypersensitivity (Allergies)- a reaction to different things in the environment. Severe Combined Immunodeficiency disorder- When you have no immunities. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)- Lose important white blood cells. Autoimmunity- Your immune system attacks your own body.

Interesting Facts In the U.K. infants receive 21 shots. There are over 70 known defects for white blood cells alone. When you are sick the lymph nodes in your neck swell up.
