Did you know that the Roman Catholic Church had a rule that no mission could be within 7 miles from any city, but that Mission La Purisima was the exception to that rule? In 1806, 220 people (mostly Chumash Indians) died at the mission, primarily due to disease Did you know this mission currently has 1,928 acres? Did you know this mission originally had 300,000 acres!!??
