ePotential ICT Capabilities Resource Purpose –eLearning curriculum planning –Professional learning ICT goals –Alongside Ultranet readiness – development of collaboration and communication within the school community through the use of ICT. Survey to be repeated each year –Ongoing school and individual data –Reflection & personal goal setting (PLTs-Term2) –New teachers Continuum and resources Questions?

The ICT Capabilities Resource is designed to: Assist staff develop their own ICT Professional Learning Plans. Assist Principals and Professional learning Leaders in their whole school ICT/eLearning planning. Assist Regional Directors to know what expertise they have in their region and how they can plan and facilitate. Assist the Department in evaluating initiatives and ensuring appropriate school support.

ePotential Survey completed by teachers. The majority of teachers are in the Emergent phase. Exceptions- ICT Ethics (Innovative) and ICT Leadership (Foundation). By Dec there were 960 resources available in the ePotential Continuum. There had been over downloads of ePotential resources. Ref: ‘State ePotential Data Analysis Report Summary Final Report, 2008’

Top 10 most downloaded ePotential Resources 2008: Ref: ‘State ePotential Data Analysis Report Summary Final Report, 2008’

A number of online resource banks provided by DEECD do not have a high uptake by teachers, such as Connect/The Victorian Education Channel, EdNA Online and Knowledge Bank. Schools need support so they can optimize the DEECD investment in resources, such as Interactive White Boards and online conference facilities. The use of learning and content management systems is low, less than 20%. More familiarity with these systems will be required for successful implementation of the Ultranet. There could be more done with regard to collaboration with others to further promote the use of ICT resources. Ref: ‘State ePotential Data Analysis Report Summary Final Report, 2008’ ePotential

Taking the survey

FAQs Why take the survey when I know where I am with ICT? Can the Principal see who has taken the survey? Who looks at my survey results? How can I make the best use of the ePotential tool?

1.Click on your continuum and explore the resources at your level for each of the Key Areas 2.Use the journal and goal setting features of the resource if you wish?journal a great way to keep track of things you’d like to come back to – or try out 3.Consider 1-2 possible goals for each of the Key Areas. Enter them on the ‘ICT Goal Setting’ template ( 4.Once you have your list of possible goals, choose 2 goals to focus on this year: A Learning and Teaching Goal One goal from the other Key Area Have a look at the eLearning ICT Showcase (on the ePotential homepage)eLearning ICT Showcase - Introduction to some excellent resources, including Digilearn Ongoing process - use resources anytime - re-visit survey approx. every 12 months Using Your Results
