Since I work on a film by film basis, my job tends to vary quite a bit from film to film and depending on who Im working with. It also changes very much throughout the course of the film. During shooting, my primary responsibility is organizing and logging all the footage that was shot the previous day for the editor. While the film is being worked on after shooting is complete, my time tends to be spent more doing sound work and other more creative things to help fill the scenes out. Once the picture is looked, its my duty to turn over all the needed materials to the departments that polish the edited film- sound designers, colorists and visual effects artists.

I was cast as an extra in a movie when I was 14 and just loved the process of filmmaking so I went to film school right after high school. While at college, I landed an internship with the editor on an Al Pacino film and became more and more interested in focusing solely on editing.

I was offered my current job based on the referral of an editor I had worked with in the past.

Theres really no other way then to volunteer to intern films. Moving to LA is the best way to go about this.

Patience and an extreme attention to detail along with a strong work ethic are imperative in editing.

Our atmosphere is very relaxed. I wear jeans to work everyday. The editor Im working with now is very young, which makes it even more relaxing than normal. Its a lot of fun.
