 It is on December 15 th  It is a day to celebrate 3 and 7 year-old girls and 5 year-old boys  It is said that Shichi-Go-San started in 1681 when they celebrated Tokumatsu Tokugawa’s health

 On the morning of Shichi-Go-San, children go to a beauty parlor and have a kimono beautifully dressed  They also have their hair set up  They first visit a shrine and pray for the children’s health  After visiting the shrine, they usually go to a photography studio to have a picture taken

 At the shrine, children get a candy called Chitose-Ame  It means ‘Thousand Years Old Candy’  Inside a bag, there are one white and one red candy which are sweet flavored  The reason why they are long and narrow, is because their parents hope for children’s long and happy life
