It is on December 15 th It is a day to celebrate 3 and 7 year-old girls and 5 year-old boys It is said that Shichi-Go-San started in 1681 when they celebrated Tokumatsu Tokugawa’s health
On the morning of Shichi-Go-San, children go to a beauty parlor and have a kimono beautifully dressed They also have their hair set up They first visit a shrine and pray for the children’s health After visiting the shrine, they usually go to a photography studio to have a picture taken
At the shrine, children get a candy called Chitose-Ame It means ‘Thousand Years Old Candy’ Inside a bag, there are one white and one red candy which are sweet flavored The reason why they are long and narrow, is because their parents hope for children’s long and happy life
