The Silk Road is a historically important international trade route between China and the West. The capital of China is Beijing. Beijing was also the capital of the Ming dynasty. Chinese Zodiac The Chinese Zodiac is based on a twelve year cycle.  Each year in that cycle related to an animal sign. The animal signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Origin of the Chinese Zodiac  animals in Chinese zodiac were also created for counting years. Ancient people observe that there are 12 full moons within one year. So, the origin of Chinese zodiac is associated with astronomy. Legend has it that one day the gods ordered that animals be designated as signs of each year and the twelve that arrived first were Q: What animal year were you born? Sheep Horse Dragon

Ancient Chinese Foods Type of Chinese Foods  A long time ago Chinese people liked to eat stuff like noodles, rice, and some other starchy food and a lot of vegetables.  Chinese foods date back to about 5,000 years ago. Ancient Chinese people rarely eat rice. Hunting was usually considered a sport. The meat they caught was sold at the market, eaten, or preserved. Fish was one of their major sources of protein because during that time there were no refrigerators to preserve food and they would just dry fish or just buy it when they wanted it. In ancient China, rice was really valuable, but only the rich could buy it. The reason why is because there wasn’t that much land and farmers could only harvests twice a year.  Q: What style does your civilization cook? These are dumplings with some sauce to dip in (and the sauce is a type of vinegar).

Unknowns How did the Chinese people form? What did kids do for fun? How did their population form so fast? Why did they not have a lot of peace back then?
