Welcome to the Laptop Lab Here are a few things you need to know!

What is a laptop lab? Computers On Wheels! (COW) We have over 24 laptops that can be moved from room to room for you to use individually and in groups.

How will we use this amazing lab? In the classroom At my desk With my friends In a group

What can we create with it? Multimedia presentations Blogs Web pages Internet research projects Fun study tools And many more surprising products that you will discover!!

What will you gain from this lab? A more relaxed atmosphere More choices for projects and presentations And most importantly – not as much droning from your teachers!! (hopefully, most of the time, some of the time)

Will we have fun? ABSOLUTELY!! “Udderly” so, Without a doubt!

Getting Started Taking the computer from the cart Getting to know your computer

Taking the computer from the cart Find the computer with your assigned number.

Taking the computer from the cart Unplug the computer. Carry the computer with two hands to your desk.

Taking the computer from the cart Set the laptop securely on your desk. Desk should be clear of all objects including water bottles, pencils, etc.

Getting to know your computer Press silver button.

Getting to know your computer Push the power button at the lower left hand corner of the screen.

Getting to know your computer The touchpad works as your mouse. You need to use a very light touch.

Getting to know your computer The touchpad acts as the mouse. Left Click Right Click

Getting started Your user name: jhlaptop Your password: jhlaptop

Getting started Look at the wireless icon on the bottom right of the computer in the system tray. It looks like this: If you get a message that you are not connected when placing the cursor over the icon, right-click on the icon and go to View Available Wireless Networks If Private is not in the list, click on Refresh network list Choose to connect to Private If you can’t connect to Private then try either Private 2 or Laptoplabjr. If that doesn’t work, tell your teacher!!

Getting started Now you can begin!

Checking your Battery If the battery is 10% or less save your work to your flash drive or it to yourself.

When Finished... Close all windows and Shut down the computer before closing the top. You must go the Start button and click the arrow button next to the lock. Then click on Shut Down.

When Finished... Carry the computer carefully with two hands. Plug the cord into the laptop without pulling the cord out of the cart. Carefully place the laptop back in the correct numbered spot with the ports viewable.

Teacher, my buttons aren’t working!! What do I do if there is trouble?

Try This Ask three other students before asking the teacher. AKA – Ask Three and then Me!

Or This Check and make sure that the internet is connected and working before you panic.

There is also: This Close and reopen whatever program you were working on!

And Finally Shut down the computer and reboot it!!

If those don’t work... Raise your hand and wait for the teacher to come and help you !
