GROUP B FACILITATED BY DR ROSLENA HAJAH ROSINAH

ONE OF THE FIRST THOUGHTS THAT ENTERS MY MIND ALMOST EVERY TIME I COME OUT OF A CLASSROOM IS USUALLY: WHETHER OR NOT MY TEACHING WORKED DID MY STUDENTS LEARN ANYTHING?

CONCEPTS TO DO WITH TEACHING L E A D earning chievement ngagement evelopment Our first task was to come up with an understanding for what it means for Learning to be Engaging. OR rather what it is that describes Learning Engagement as a term in itself.

LEARNING ENGAGEMENT What does it mean?

FOCUS STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING Interactive learning Active learning Outside-classroom CHEMISTRY between teacher And student VARIETY in teaching materials Groupwork Presentations Discusssions Collaboration Interesting Hands -on Learning by DOING

LEARNING THAT IS ENGAGING! interactive Making the learning process or teaching a much more engaging activity by employing styles that are more interactive, varied, and is conducive to a student-centered learning. GETTING STUDENTS TO BECOME ENGAGED LEARNERS Help students become more self-regulated learners who are not only able to set learning goals, but also evaluate their own achievements by developing students ability for critical thinking.

Teacher-Centered Learning Student-Centered Learning

HOW WOULD YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVE ACHIEVED LEARNING AND PROMOTE ENGAGEMENT IN YOUR CLASSROOMS? WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY IF YOU ARE MORE TEACHER CENTERED OR STUDENT CENTERED?

TEACHER S -follow the syllabus -Spoon-feeding -One-on-one with weak students -Less bright students sit in front -Compare previous results -Interesting practicals outside of syllabus TEACHER V -Follow the syllabus -Spoon feeding --put weaker students with good students to get them motivated -Trial and error -Strictly syllabus

THANK YOU
