JJ Ayers How old lessons can be useful again.

Theories leftover from College Vygotsky Piaget Maslow’s Hierarchy Physiological, Safety, Belonging, Esteem, Self-Actualization Multiple Intelligences Textual, Visual, Audible, Kinetic Bloom’s Taxonomy H.O.T.S. (Higher Ordered Thinking Skills)

Terms we’ve learned in P.D.

AAAAAAaarrrrrggggg!!!!!! Do we get rid of our old way of doing things? NO Do we have to understand everything right now? NO Can’t I just ignore this and keep doing things the old way? Why would you want to? Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results is insanity!

Quick and Easy A few years back, some researchers revisited Bloom’s Taxonomy. Here is what they found:

Quick and Easy Later, they added the Web 2.0 components and called it Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy:

What are Web 2.0 tools? Blogging Video Images Audio Presentations Analyzing Evaluating Application Understanding Remembering Recognize Bloom’s Taxonomy?

Are there some that can take the place of pen and paper assignments? Write down some of the Web 2.0 tools that you’ve heard of or even used before.

Websites I’ve heard about the district Teacher Website, PBWorks, and the Teacher Portal. What is the difference and what is important? More importantly, what do I HAVE to use?

Websites Here is the crux: You HAVE to have a teacher website intended for student and parent communication. The Teacher Portal is NOT a teacher website intended for students or parents. It is strictly for campus use only.

Websites MISD Teacher Website: This is a website that the district has provided and must be used in some fashion. Some teachers are using it to the fullest capacity, while others (myself included) use it to redirect the public to my PBWorks website. PBWorks website: In my mind this allows for more versatility in how you can interact with the students, parents, and even peers. PBWorks can do everything the MISD Teacher Website can do plus: add pictures, base a blog on an image, allow students to interact with each other on assignments, set up whole pages with direct links to lessons and notes.

What does this all mean to you? First: Create a time line of how to integrate technology within your curriculum. Second: Add what the campus and district require you to. Third: Implement your plan. Remember: you don’t have to be an expert with a particular technology in order to use it in in your class.

Create a goal SAMPLE: Step 1: Have a website that communicates to my students and parents my availability and expectations. Also to plan on using some of those Web 2.0 tools in class. Step 2: Have an interactive website where my students can download notes and assignments as well as availability and expectations. Maybe have some examples of those Web 2.0 tools being used in assignments. Step 3: Have an interactive website that replaces the student doing homework on paper and turning it in. Instead there is a place for students to upload projects, papers and assignment. Maybe even look at somehow doing tests online as well.

2010 Campus & District expectations: Some sort of Teacher Website Take a moment and map out your technology integration goal.

Now let’s explore some new Web 2.0 tools … Go to: Web-2_0-Tools
