The discoveries of fossils and prehistoric life have provided light on species from our past and our present. The first discovery of an ancient fossil was of a Megalosaurus. It was discovered in 1824 by William Buckland. The most frequent of fossils found are animal and human bones, wood and trace fossils.

What does Paleontology mean and include? In simplest terms, Paleontology is the study of ancient life. Its studies include those of Geology, Archeology, Biology, Astronomy, Cosmology, Philology and history all together. Paleontologists categorize fossils or things from our past by the time they came from or the time they assume they came from. The study of it borders between Geology and Biology.
