AP Comparative Government and Politics Sample Class Questions to Explore

Russia Is a liberal democracy possible in Russia? How will Putin’s rule and Russia itself change as he enters his 3 rd term? Will popular democratic pressure rise in Russia?

China How does the authoritarian, bureaucratic, pseudo-Communist government work in China? Is China’s model of state capitalism economically sustainable? Will popular political pressure mount as China becomes more wealthy and open?

Iran How will the pressures of the theocracy control the semblance of democracy in Iran? Will Iran continue to pursue becoming a nuclear armed international pariah? Will its young, democratically minded youth in Iran force any changes in Iran’s government?

United Kingdom What elements of the UK’s democracy are a model to the world and what elements are archaic? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the UK’s parliamentary model as compared to presidential systems? Will the UK make electoral changes so that it transitions from a two- party system to more of a multiparty model?
