Presentation transcript:

Qur’an was a vocal phenomenon. Jibril would come to the Prophet (pbuh), recite a section of the Qur’an to him. The Prophet (pbuh) tried to repeat the words many times to memorize them.

( سورة القِيَامَة 16-18)  “Do not remove your tongue to hastily [learn] it. Surely we will collect it and recite it. So, when We recite it, follow its recital”. (Surah Al-Quiyamah, Ayahs 16-18).

1. The Prophet (pbuh) used to recite aloud various parts of the Qur’an in the congregational prayers. 2. Everyone who entered Islam would be taught parts of the Qur’an. 3. The best of the believers were those who learned and taught the Qur’an. Muslims turned into a learning community.

4. Ahl Al-Suffa: A full time learning Group 5. Appointed Scribes of the Revelation 6. When the Prophet passed away there was no one compiled written copy of the Qur’an.

What would happen next? If you were there What would you do?
