 Stands 164ft high, 148ft wide, 72ft wide.  Large Vault 95.8ft high and 48ft wide, Small Vault 61.3ft high and 27.7ft wide.  This Arc was built by order of Napoleon Bonaparte the first to honor the Grande Armee that fought the Napoleonic and Revolutionary war.

 Construction begun in 1806 by Jean- Francois- Therese Chalgrin.  The Construction was halted between due too Napoleons Abdication.  Project later started by Jean- Nicolas- Huyot, because Chalgrin died in  Napoleon wanted it to be built in 1806 but wasn’t Completed until 1836 and inaugurated by French King, Louis- Philippe.  The Arc de Triomphe costed 9.3 millions French francs.  All 128 battles Napoleon fought are all inscribed on the white walls along with the generals who fought to.

 The Unknown solider is an unknown French soldier who gave his life during World War I.  Every evening at 6:30 pm a torch at the base is rekindled every day and veterans lay blue, red and white wreathes to honor the Unknown soldier.  One whole year after WW1, November 12, 1919 it was determined that the Unknown soldier was to be buried at the Pantheon.  Following year a large-scale writing campaign it was decided that the Unknown soldier would be buried In the L’Arc De Triomphe.  Coffin placed on first floor of chapel in the arch and put in final resting place on January 21,1921.
