Zheng He

The Biography of Zheng He Zheng He was born in 1371 in Kunyang, China, during the Ming Dynasty. He was a Chinese Muslim Zheng He started his voyages to the west in 1405. He always had 208 ships with him of which 63 were treasure ships with about 30,000 sailors.

Zheng He died in his seventh voyage. Timeline of Zheng He Zheng He is born in 1371 His fifth voyage in 1417-1419 His third Voyage in 1409-1411. Zheng He died in his seventh voyage. His first voyage in 1405-1406. His fourth voyage in 1414-1415. His sixth voyage in 1421-1422. His second Voyage in 1407-1409.

Zheng He – a significant explorer? 1. Why do we consider Zheng He to be signifcant? Because he explored places and then gave the map of his findings to the emperor. In 1433, Zheng He died during his 7th voyage. His death meant the end of all voyages to the west. 2. How did Zheng He impact on places he went? He traded Chinese goods to other countries. Zheng He opened up trade routes and developed relationships between China and other countries. 3. Why did Zheng He travel? He was captured by the Chinese army and then was asked to help the army that captured him.

Zheng He – a significant explorer? 4. What was Zheng He looking for? He was looking for land and goods that were expensive for trading. 5. Did Zheng He’s exploits change the way people lived at the time of his exploration? He changed the way people lived by developing trade relationships with other countries.

Zheng He’s Treasure Boat This is Franco’s boat. It’s based on one of Zheng He’s treasure boats. Zheng He’s fleet had 208 ships and 63 of them were treasure ships.
