Waxing vs. Waning of the Moon

What does “waxing” mean? Waxing means an INCREASE When the moon is waxing, the lighted surface of the moon is increasing or becoming larger

What does “waning” mean? Waning means a DECREASE When the moon is waning, the lighted surface is decreasing or becoming smaller
