The Reason for the Seasons Grade 6 FOSS Weather and Water

The Reasons for Seasons Earth rotates on its axis once every 24 hours (day and night). Earth revolves around the Sun once every 365 days (1 year).

The Reasons for Seasons Earth is tilted at 23.5°. The tilt always points to the North Star.

The Reasons for Seasons When the Northern Hemisphere tilts toward the Sun, it is summer. When the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the Sun, it is winter.

The Reasons for Seasons The solar angle affects the amount of energy that is being received by different parts of Earth. The solar angle changes because of the tilt of Earth and its revolution around the Sun. If the angle is greater, that place is receiving more energy.

The Reasons for Seasons Summer days are longer. More hours of sunshine transfer more energy resulting in warmer temperatures.
