Rules for s/v agreement with compound subjects 1. two or more parts joined by and  plural Example His daughter and his son want him to move to Florida. Remember: plural verbs don’t have an “s” on the end

However… if the two joined parts refer to a single person or thing, use a singular verb. Example the same person The restaurant's chef and owner makes good fajitas. Example Fish and chips is a popular dish in England. both are served together as 1 dish
