Summary * Every hive, typically houses about 50,000 residents, contains three kinds of bees : female workers, male drones, and a single queen. * The female workers are responsible of the work of the hive, collecting the nectar, the care and feeding of offspring, building the honey bomb, repairing the hive, and guarding the hive from intruders. * Male drones’ only job is to mate with the queen. However, after mating, they die. * The queen spends much of her day laying eggs in the chambers of the hive. The queen lays about 1200 eggs per day, about 200,000 per season. Exit
