Heaven is for Real A Little Boy’s Astounding Story

Timeline of Events  May 19, 1999 – Colton Burpo is born.  February 27, 2003 – Colton complains of stomach pain and has a high fever that is misdiagnosed as stomach flu.  February 28, 2003 – Colton’s fever breaks. His parents rejoice, thinking that Colton is well, when in face this is a sign of the rupturing of his appendix.  March 3, 2003 – Colton is examined by a doctor in Nebraska who dismisses suggestions of appendicitis.  March 5, 2003 – Todd and Sonja check Colton into a different hospital; Dr. Timothy O’Holleran prepares for surgery. Colton undergoes his first surgery, an appendectomy. He has both a ruptured appendix and an abscess.

Timeline of Events (cont’d)  March 13, 2003 – As Colton is getting ready to leave the hospital, blood tests reveal that his white blood cell count has spiked. A CT scan reveals two more abscesses in his abdomen. Colton undergoes a second surgery – a celiotomy – to drain the abscess. During surgery a total of three abscesses are found.  March 17, 2003 – Dr. O’Holleran advises Todd and Sonja that there is nothing more he can do for Colton. He suggests transferring Colton to the Denver Children’s Hospital, but a blizzard stops their travelling.  March 18, 2003 – Colton shows amazing signs of recovery and is soon playing like a normal child.  July 3, 2003 – On a family road trip, Colton tells his first of many accounts of heaven.

Colton’s Description of Jesus  Brown hair and has hair on his face, pretty eyes  Had white clothing with a purple sash on (the colour of kings in the Bible)  Gold thing on his head (motioned in the shape of a circle) like a crown  Jesus has red “markers” on him  where are the markers? In the middle of his palms and at the tops of his two feet (where He was nailed to the cross)

Akiane Kramarik  Child prodigy who paints and writes poetry  Began having visions of heaven at the age of four  Her descriptions of heaven sounded like Colton’s  Began painting at the age of six  Painted a portrait entitled “Prince of Peace”  When Colton saw this portrait, he confirmed it was the Jesus who he had seen in heaven
