Run-On Sentences

Read this… what did this writer do wrong? Last night I made dinner and I made tacos with ground beef, tortilla shells, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes and they were so good they make my stomach growl every time I think about them because they were just the right mix of spicy and garlicky which is my favorite flavor in the world so I want to make them again soon so I can eat up!

What are Run-On Sentences A run-on sentence is actually two or more sentences run together without proper punctuation as if they were one sentence. Run-on sentences make it difficult to follow the ideas presented in the sentences.

When do Run-on Sentences Occur? They often occur when you leave out an end punctuation. Example: In 1962, John Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth he made his second space flight on the space shuttle Discovery in 1998, when he was 77 years old. To correct this, you would need to add end punctuation to separate the two complete sentences. Where should it go?

They can also occur when you use a comma to separate two complete sentences. Example: Sally Ride was the first American woman in space, she was a member of the shuttle crew. To correct this sentence, you would need to replace the comma with an end punctuation. Or, you could make it a compound sentence by adding a conjunction after the comma. How would you rewrite the sentence?

Run-On or not? If the sentence is a run-on, then rewrite it so that it is not a run-on. If the sentence is not a run-on, then write correct beside it. 1.People constantly search for faster ways to communicate, the Internet is one tool that helps people share information quickly. 2.The Internet has changed a great deal since it was invented now it can be used by almost anyone who uses a computer. 3.The earliest form of the Internet was designed over thirty years ago, and it was created to be used by the military.
