Miss Lunsford: I grew up in an Air Force family but call Peachtree City, Georgia home. I moved to SC to attend USC in Columbia. I graduated in 2013 with an Early Childhood Education degree. Go Gamecocks! This is my second year teaching at WPS and I have loved working in this community. I currently live in downtown Greenville. I plan to begin my Master’s degree in Literacy soon!

Mrs. Belk: I am from Woodruff and have one daughter in 6 th grade named Riley. I attend Bellview Baptist Church where I work in the children’s choir and am on the praise team. I am a graduate of Woodruff High School and Spartanburg Community College.

Students are tardy if he/she is not in the classroom by 7:55 am. During this time, attendance and lunch counts are recorded. Late arrivers will automatically be given Lunch choice 2. He/she needs time to put away their bookbag and get ready for the day.

Students need to read every night - reading log. Guided Reading will begin after the first nine weeks. Students should know all of their letters, letter sounds, and the majority of the high frequency words by this time. DRA of Level 4 by the end of the year- RETELLING! Set aside a quiet time to read with your child. Always look at the book with your child so you can be sure they are reading the correct words. Ask your child questions about the story: Who is in the story? Where are they? What happened? Was there a problem? Did they solve it?

Everyday Math: a spiral approach that reinforces skills while introducing new concepts. Numbers 0-31 Basic shapes Counting 1-1 by the end of the 1 st nine weeks. Refer to your October report card for more specific skills.

Think, Draw, Write, Share Finger spaces Listening for letter sounds (“stretch it out!”) Write from left to right Begin a sentence with an uppercase letter End a sentence with a period. Children may write about ANYTHING that interests them. Reading and writing go hand in hand. Practicing at school and home will only enhance your child’s skills.

Sent home at the beginning of each month. Correlate to classroom topics and Common Core Standards. Activities take 5-10 minutes. Sign the calendar at the end of the month and return. Valuable tool to establish responsible school habits. Turn in homework with a “product”. Check the calendar for school reminders!

Only non-food items as class treats (no birthday cupcakes, etc). Conferences will be October 23 & 24- set aside a day! Your child should bring their blue folder to school DAILY. Clean out the folder pockets each night. Remind your child to turn in any notes or money. Only rubber-soled shoes on playground. Transportation changes require a note in writing.
