Important notes Please bookmark our website password is bears I will post notes, assignments and bonus questions Quizzes will mostly be online. –Quizzes will be online at my moodle site (link from our class website). You will need to register at the following site and bookmark it. Brady’s Crucible. Our class is Brady Algebra 2/Trig. Enrollment key is bears –Do not miss the deadlines. There are no makeups! Generally they are open for one week from Wed to Wed on the crucible. –You may take the quizzes as many times as you want during the week interval –I will drop your lowest 2 at the END of the semester.

More notes Homework is graded for completion and process. –Due at the beginning of class…must be complete with work shown. No work = 0 points. –Don’t skip the word problems (-1 for every w-p skipped) –Integrity….don’t take credit for someone else’s work –Each assignment is 10 points. –Late work is 50% until test day, needs a z slip –Write # for Problems you need help with on class whiteboard Tests will be every weeks. –Show all work in standard mathematical notation –Neatness counts…if I can’t read it I will mark it wrong. –Yes, there will be word problems…

Let’s try solving for x Solve the equation -4x + y = -36 for x. Ask: What is the first thing being done to the x? Multiply by -4. What is the next thing done to x? –Add y To undo – then we should …..subtract y, divide by -4

-4x + y = -36 -y -y -4x = -36 – y (can’t combine) -4 x = 9 + y/4

Here’s a tricky one! Solve 3ax - b = d - 4cx for x. First, we must get all terms with x together on one side. –Add 4cx to both sides Next, use the distributive property to factor x out of the two terms on the left. Add b to both sides To undo this, divide both sides by (3a + 4c). 3ax - b = d - 4cx +4cx 3ax+4cx - b = d x(3a+4c) - b = d +b x(3a+4c) = d + b 3a+4c
