Classical Music

Characteristics Broad term that usually refers to music from the 9 th century to present day. The central norms of this style of music became set around 1550 to 1900, which we call the Common Practice Period. Classical music = anything that lasts a long time.

The 7 major time periods of Classical music are: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20 th Century, and Contemporary. The four periods that are part of the Common Practice Period are Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20 th Century or Contemporary
