on the Male and Female Reproductive System Effects of Alcohol + Marijuana on the Male and Female Reproductive System

Effects of Marijuana on Female Reproductive System Smoking during pregnancy may result in premature babies and in low birth weights. Studies of men and women may have a temporary loss of fertility. These findings suggest that marijuana may be especially harmful during adolescence, a period of rapid physical and sexual development.

Male Reproductive System – Marijuana effects The quantity and quality of the sperm dramatically decreases, and testicular function is altered. Decreased testicular size, lower testosterone levels, and decreased desire to have sex can also occur. Also when smoking marijuana, it messes up the sperm mobility and fertilization of an egg.

Effects of Alcohol on the Female Reproductive System It disrupts female puberty, and drinking and during this period also may affect growth and bone health. Beyond puberty, alcohol has been found to disrupt normal menstrual cycling in female humans and animals. It also affects important hormonal levels in postmenopausal women.

Effects of Alcohol on the Male Reproductive System Alcohol affects the three major glands in the brain that affects the release in human growth hormones. Alcohol use is associated with low testosterone and altered levels of additional reproductive hormones. Direct damage to testicular cells and impairment of control centers in the brain is also an effect of alcohol on the male reproductive system.
