How to Write The Science Article Summary Each month you will find and summarize a science current events article. This summary will count not only as a quiz grade but as a writing grade so be sure that you hand it in on time and do your best on it. Each article MUST be summarized in your own words. It is important to read about new discoveries because they can impact our lives in many ways. Think of all the ways that technology advances our lives. There are new discoveries in medicine that help to save lives or advances in computers that help us to talk to people in other countries.

Where to Look for Articles NY times: Science News for Kids: Science Daily: Don’t forget that you can use the newspaper and magazines for articles as well. National Geographic for kids is a great source of science articles.

Setting up your Article Summary (Requirments) Your paper is to be typed, Times New Roman, size 12 font. Check your work for spelling and grammar. Articles are due on the First of Each Month DO NOT make a cover page. Use a complete school heading. A.) Summary The first sentence of your summary should tell the name of website or newspaper article, date of the article, author, and name of the article. In your own words write a summary of the article that is 8 sentences long. You may find that you need more than 1 paragraph for your summary. Include the following in your summary: Who is involved? What happened When did it happen? Where did it happen? Why did it happen?

Reaction The reaction is your opinion of the article. Write this section in paragraph form, with 8 sentences. Use supporting details (evidence) from the article to support your opinions. Include the following: Your thoughts about the article Why this article interested you Do you agree or disagree with events in the article? Why is this article important to our everyday lives?
