Introducing Me! BY:_________________________

Step 1: Your teacher will provide you with a white paper bag. Step 2: On side 1, draw a sketch of the cover of a book you read this summer. Include the title and the author. With literature, we must always give credit where credit is due. On side 2 you will sketch a self-portrait. This begins with a lightly sketched self drawing. You can use a selfie or a mirror. As long as you are aware of yourself you will be pleased with this when it is hung up if: You use a dark palette of colors You fill the entire bag with color or powerful black and white Step 3: Think about yourself. Who are you? Select 5 items that you feel represent who you are. The following objects will not be assessed: paint brush or pencil (if you like to write or like to draw, then select a sample of something you have done.) Think deeply. Instead of bringing in a comb, bring a photo of yourself with a crazy hairdo. One of these items will be a poem about you. You will be given a poetry review sheet at the beginning of the assignment. If you write an acrostic poem, you will need to include another effort as well. TASK:

Step 4: Present your bag in front of your peers. You will be given a time of 3-5 minutes to talk about who you are while you share 4 of your objects. Think about the 5 W’s: who? What? Where? When? how? Step 5: Write a 2 page paper that introduces yourself to me in biographical format. Share only what you are comfortable sharing but talk about who you are, from where you have come, and where you would like to go from here. This will not be shared with the class. Must be typed and begin with your birth and follow you up to the day you walked into this LA class, or, begin with walking into this LA class and tell your story backwards. You choose. This may sound like a lot, but if you carefully think and outline the highlights or low-lights that you’d like to share, you will find the right words and the perfect way to share your story. This project is due on or before Tuesday, September 2 nd. **Extra credit is given to anyone who turns in a completed project in advance AND to whomever goes first in presenting.

FrontBack Name on bottom of bag. Remember to draw and not download these tasks!
