Job Description Must be able to relay text, telephone, and voice telephone calls to and from speech and hearing impaired. Able to type 60 words per minute (wpm)

Salary The Maryland relay operator get about $63,000 a year. The California relay operators get about $52,000 a year. The New York relay operators get about $69,000 a year.

Job Outlook We believe relay operators are going to continue to be successful in their job. –They always get calls from the deaf, hard-of- hearing, and the speech impaired. –The people are not losing their jobs so, their jobs aren’t in trouble of shutting down due to no employees.

Education They train on the job, meaning there is no education required to be an operator except to be able to type and spell correctly.
