LQ & LM Status & Plan for FY08 – Fred Nobrega 2 LARP Collab. Meeting – SLAC, Oct , 2007 LQ Status Winding tooling complete. »All winding parts in IB3 or inspection Curing tooling used is from LHCIR quad program. Preassembly of first LQ practice coil parts.

Procure long lead magnet parts during the 1 st half of year. Procure remaining LQ magnet parts in 2 nd half of year as money becomes available. Prepare for magnet assembly in FY09.

LQ & LM Status & Plan for FY08 – Fred Nobrega 12 LARP Collab. Meeting – SLAC, Oct , 2007 LQ Conclusions The tooling length scale up for the LQ is nearly complete. Practice winding to begin within the next week. Long generic tooling used for the LHC quadrupoles is in place for the LQ practice coils in IB3. Valuable experience from moving LM dipole coils and subassemblies can be tapped into for LQ.

LQ & LM Status & Plan for FY08 – Fred Nobrega 19 LARP Collab. Meeting – SLAC, Oct , 2007 LM Conclusions The scale up of the 1m dipole mirrors to 2m using PIT strand was successfully demonstrated. The 4m (RRP) mirror magnet is about to be tested and will provide valuable information on coil degradation due to deflection. Feasibility of coil handling and subassembly handling is demonstrated with the long dipole mirror.
