Earmarks Nationwide - $24 Billion –6,376 projects Pennsylvania Highway- $621.4 Million –376 projects (statewide) –$100 million in DVRPC Region Pennsylvania Transit - $79.2 Million –43 projects (statewide) –$33 million in DVRPC Region

Earmarks Funding is released over the 5 year period at rate of 20% per year. Some projects listed have already been completed, some listed multiple times. Typically provide less than 10% of cost. Some earmarks displace program funds a state would normally receive, resulting in less core funds than under TEA-21.

Changes to CMAQ Program in SAFETEA LU Expands eligibility to include advanced truck stop electrification, inter-operable emergency communications equipment, and transportation systems management and operations projects. Calls for priority to be given to diesel retrofit projects and other cost-effective strategies that improve air quality.
