How to round a number with two decimal places to the nearest whole number
First look at the value of the digit in the tenths column 4.76 Has 7 tenths 5.58 Has 5 tenths Has 2 tenths 3.27 4.32 Has 3 tenths
You round down to the nearest whole number if the tenths digit is 0,1,2,3 or 4. 3.27 is rounded down to 3 4.32 is rounded down to 4 17.15 is rounded down to 17 120.06 is rounded down to 120 45.44 is rounded down to 45
You round up to the nearest whole number if the tenths digit is 5,6,7,8 or 9. 4.76 is rounded up to 5 5.58 is rounded up to 6 17.87 is rounded up to 18 125.92 is rounded up to 126 46.63 is rounded up to 47
Watch out for numbers which have 9 in the units column. e.g. 9.57 If you are rounding up, you will make 10 units. This makes 1 ten, so you have to round to the next ten (in this case to 10). For the same reason, 29.87 becomes 30 19.75 becomes 20 And 459.68 becomes 460
That’s it for now......
