Discrimination treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit

Types of Discrimination Race Age Weight Economic Religion Gender

Racism Racism is treating a person differently because of the color of their skin, of the culture or country they’re from.

Agism Treating people differently because they are older or younger than you think they should be.

Weight and Economic We treat people differently if they don’t have the things they need, if they dress in old, dirty clothes, or if they live in a smaller, run-down house.

Religion and Gender Religion Gender We say that a person can’t do something because they’re a girl or because they’re a boy. Sometimes men make more money just because they’re men.

Martin Luther King Jr. “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.”
