Goals for the ESL Classroom  Support the English Learner (EL) in finding comprehensibility in the school setting both socially and academically.  Support the EL in the process of cultural adaptation to the local school environment.  Support the EL in English language acquisition and the connections needed for success in the academic classrooms.  Support regular academic teachers with methods and modifications needed for the EL to be successful in content classrooms and on required assessments.  Support the EL as s/he moves from significant to minimal English support by removing scaffolding as needed for differentiation. 10/22/20142
