The National Conversation tells us that faculty- student interaction and student cohorts are important factors in student success. A learning community addresses these factors. I teach English. I want to try a learning community with Hawaiian Studies to increase faculty-student interaction, student-student interaction. and linked content. In order to develop the curriculum, I request reassigned time in the APRU So how can impact these goals? Example #1
I run the pilot and compare results with how my non-learning community class performed. Based on the analysis of the results, I continue, revise (maybe another APRU item), or abandon. I have probably impacted the overall student success rate. So how can I impact these goals?
I have done work at an institution in India. I decide to form a partnership in my area of Hospitality and Tourism with that institution I request funding for a funds to hold a virtual conference with appropriate faculty and staff at each institution through an APRU. At the conference, we develop a program that brings students from India to KCC for summer credit courses in Hospitality and Tourism and English. So how can I impact these goals? Example #2
I work in Culinary and a low-impact, sustainable operation is important to me. I request funds to establish a high-temperature composting system through the APRU The results of this system are that there is less waste, and the College has generated some of the compost necessary for the grounds. I can document the decline in waste volume and increase in usable compost. So how can I impact these goals? Example #3
