The Night The Trees Cried An Account of the Devastating October 12-13, 2006 Lake Effect Snow Storm in Buffalo, NY

Lake Effect Storm Locust October 12-13, 2006 Band Affected a 20 mile wide by 40 mile long swath. As much as 24 inches of snow fell in 12 hours. Lightning and thunder was reported for 14 consecutive hours. Snow to water ratios were as low as 6:1. Trees were still fully leafed out. Nearly 90% of all tress were damaged to some degree. Damage estimate put at $175 million.
