Money and the World of Work: Session 2

Money Quiz!  Each team is to complete the quiz with the help of their volunteer.  This is a general knowledge quiz about the history of money, economics and the world of work.

Spend or Save!  Watch the Money Decisions video and as a team decide what you would do at each stage.

Negotiating a contract  With the help of your volunteer, read through the contract carefully. The content of the contract is made up of ‘terms’. The terms determine the points on which both ‘parties’ are in agreement. Make a note of each term to ensure that you know exactly what the contract includes.  Discussion point: What do you think would happen if you signed a contract without reading through it properly?  As a team, have a discussion about what you would like to see included in this contract; what would you like from the school? What do you think you could offer the school as pupils? Write your own new terms for the contract.

______________________________________Primary School- Pupil Contract 2010 As of _______, _______, __________, ______________will be a member of the Year 5/6 Class at ____________ Primary School as long as s/he follows the following conditions; Rules of the School. I agree to arrive on time by 9 a.m. ready to begin lessons walk around the school in singell single file, without talking, when moving between lessons or brake break time take care of and look smart in my ewniform uniform serve lunch to the teachers once week.

This contract is subject to changes based on mutual agreement. Signed ______________________________________ ___________________________________ Child’s Name Date ______________________________________ ___________________________________ Class Teacher Date Rules of the Classroom. I agree to respect my fellow classmates try my hardest during lessons. take care of all resawsis resources within the classroom mark all the class books once a fortnight. Teachers and support staff agree to: teach pupils all the subjects in the National Curriculum be fair as much as possible always walk backtowards backwards sing the top gear theme tune whenever they come into a room have a longer lunch break than the pupils.

Summary Everybody has to make decisions about how they earn, save and spend money. Us, our parents, the government, even the Queen! When two or more people want to agree on something, they often write and sign a contract, which shows agreed terms. Next session we will be visiting a Financial Institution to talk to them about money!
