INFORMATION ABOUT THE SONG  SONG’S NAME: Stand by me  WRITTEN BY: Ben E. King and Mike Stoller  ALBUM: Unknown  RELEASE: 1961  The movie of this song was released in1986  The song was used for a music video on the tv cartoon Timon and Pumba  King’s version was a top ten hit on the U.S charts for many weeks in the 60’s.  In the 60’s was released the Italian cover by Adriano Celentano…but the traslation is very different from the original!!!

OUR ANALYSIS I don’t find a scheme for the rhymes but I have found some metaphors as in the first stanza when the author compares the dark of the night to the problems of his life and says that, even with these problems, if he stays with her every problems are bearable. In the third stanza he continues the same argumentation as in the first one: he compares his problems to some natural catastrophes. This is a love song, of course, because the core of the lyrics is the love between the author and a girl, Christine as we called her in our story.

THE MOVIE This movie has the same title of the famous song interpreted by many singers, and edited for the first time by Ben E. King. The movie is based on the novel calledThe body by Stephen King. This is a story of a very strong friendship between four children. Each of them has his own life but when they are together every problem goes away… For this reason they would stay together forever…

THE STORY One starry night, starts the love story between two young lovers: Ben and Christine. In fact Ben declares his feelings by confessing her that these strong emotions had surpassed every adversity. He compares these difficulties to some natural calamities. He states that “when the night has come and the land is dark” and “ if the sky that we look upon should tumble and fall and the mountains should crumble to the sea”, he won’t cry and he won’t be afraid because Christine will stand by him for ever. For this reason the song is called “Stand By Me”.
