Case Presentation Dan Preece DPM PGY-2

Case Study: CC/HPI: 73 yo female, chronic ankle, STJ and Midfoot pain >5 years. Pt has failed conservative treatments including ankle bracing and shoegear changes, joint injections etc. PMH: significant for long hx of RA with steroid, anti-rheumatic therapies. No other major health concerns. LE Exam: crepitus and pain through ROM of the ankle, STJ and Midfoot joints.

Case Study: A/P: 73 yo female with severe destruction of the ankle, STJ and midfoot 2/2 RA. -Pantalar arthrodesis using the Biomet Phoenix Ankle Fusion IM Nail System .

Goals: 2-4 Degrees of calcaneal valgus. Foot 90 deg to ankle while loaded. Foot 10-15 degrees abducted in horizontal plane or matching contralateral side.

Post Op: 4-6 weeks NWB, 3-4 weeks WB in CAM walker.
